PACE
What is it: PACE is a training programme for people who work with and/or care for children and adolescents who have experienced abuse, neglect and disruptions to their primary caregiver relationship. It is rooted in Attachment Theory and is evidenced-based, especially with work with children in foster care or adopted. PACE was developed by Dan Hughes and stands for Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy.
Description
It provides a solid understanding of the concepts of developmental trauma, trauma-informed therapeutic care, and self-care for caregivers/practitioners.
It also trains participants to adopt a specific relational stance when interacting with children to prevent the cycle of further failed relationships and relational breakdowns.
This learning program will be delivered in 6 3 hour sessions, each session must be attended to have completed the course
It is face to face training, in a group on 14 maximum. Due to its interactive nature, active engagement is expected.
